novaPDF PDF 3.0 Build 163 – An Adobe Acrobat Alternative

Posted in Business Software, Utilities, Windows

novaPDF

Following my previous review on novaPDF Lite PDF Creator at Coolest-Gadgets website, I was informed of the next recent release of version 3.0, on March 28, 2006.

Offering as a cheap alternative to Adobe Acrobat, one of the most popular PDF file creator, novaPDF has improved on this release to match the dominance of the former. To repeat the same thing again, instead of resorting to illegal downloads, or purchasing pirated copies of Adobe Acrobat, novaPDF is available for download freely and yet does the job equally well in creating professional quality documents in industry-standard PDF file format.

Following the release of the Microsoft Word alternative, ajaxWrite 0.9, ajax13 Inc. has went another step further by introducing ajaxSketch 0.9, an online web-based application for diagramming, creating flow charts, free hand drawing and even more. It is very much similar to the some of the popular brands of drawing softwares, but as usual, some of the complicated functions are simplified while keeping the fundamentals available to users. All the coding is based on Ajax programming, which makes the application completely web-based.

KDE Logo

One of the two most popular Linux Desktop Environment, KDE, has released the next version 3.5.2, since GNOME released its latest version of 2.14 two weeks ago, and its own last release of KDE 3.5.1 earlier in January.

This version of KDE is a maintenance release which provides corrections of bugs and problems reported via the KDE bug tracking system. In addition, there is an enhanced support for existing translations and new translations, now in 63 languages. If you want to know more, you can read the change log, over the previous KDE 3.5.1 version.

Linux users may install KDE by compiling the source codes directly. Alternatively, you can wait for your distribution to support this latest version, which incorporates several improvements, i.e. speed and stability.

Ophcrack 2.2 – Windows Password Cracker

Posted in Linux, Utilities, Windows

ophcrack

Have you lost your Windows password? Or are trying to play a trick on your friends by finding out his or her password and logged onto their accounts? It was seemingly difficult especially Microsoft had made the Windows login quite secure, other than the fact that it is having some problem with Internet Explorer being buggy these few weeks.

Anyway, Ophcrack 2.2 is an open source Windows password cracker based on a time-memory trade-off using rainbow tables. This is a new variant of Hellman’s original trade-off, with better performance. It recovers 99.9% of alphanumeric passwords in seconds. It was released recently just less than a week ago.

The software can be installed under Windows and Linux. See the latest change log below.

Perhaps this is not for the “faint” hearted people. Essentially, this is especially for students. School Organizer is indeed a useful software that helps students to organise time-table and manage schedules so that they will not forget any dates with friends or classes.

ajaxWrite 0.9 – No more Microsoft Word

Posted in Linux, Mac OS, Site News, Solaris, Web Apps, Windows

ajaxWrite

This post is going to capture a lot of users’ attention. If you are one who are always hogging onto the internet, enjoying taking up bandwidth as much as possible and also one who loves to write, this is going to be a lovely little toy. First of all, I have to claim that this is no software, instead this piece of “web-ware” or rather a web application. ajaxWrite 0.9 have introduced a complete streamlined word processor on a web-based AJAX platform (in contrast of our usual Operating System platform).

For those who are feeling hard to fork out cash to purchase Microsoft Word, ajaxWrite may be just for you. It is almost like a bare skeleton of Microsoft Word, yet sufficiently good enough for users to write any documents, and save in .doc format.
