Reveal Password with NSASoft SpotAuditor 2.7

Posted in Utilities, Windows

SpotAuditor

This is extremely useful for lazy and forgetful users, especially those who used lots of saved password forms in browsers to allow them to access password-protected sites. For one day, you might have realised that you forgot what the exact password is, and what you see are only asterisks (****) appearing on the text field.

Not to be alarm, NSASoft SpotAuditor has the right tool for you, which allows users to reveal passwords that are saved in several applications, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox…etc. This software does not just recover the password behind those asterisks which you had forgotten, it reveals those passwords hidden by the password field.

Fedora Core 5 Release

Posted in Linux, Site News

Fedora Core Logo

After several months of testings and beta releases, the Fedora Project is finally pleased to announce the release of Fedora Core 5.

Fedora Core 5 incorporates several new enhancements and security, together with new desktop applications. There are also improved localisation tools and better software management package to manage and install softwares (which were once not very well designed, in my opinion). Furthermore, there is a strong Java integration in Fedora Core 5.

Users may download the installation ISO (or using BitTorrent, which is preferred) here.

Firefox 2.0 Alpha Release

Posted in Linux, Mac OS, Web Apps, Windows

Firefox Logo

Once again, I stumbled about the web and came to realise that Mozilla is preparing for the next generation of Firefox - Firefox 2.0! Though it was not made public, sources have found that Firefox 2.0 looks promising, to deliver a faster, yet stable and generically better Firefox major release.

Note that, since this is an Alpha version, it might not contain the full new features as one may expect. Furthermore, they may be bugs which can freeze your computer systems. I advised only advanced users to attempt and install it, but at your own risk.

Posted in Mac OS, Site News, Web Apps, Windows

Adobe Flash Player

Adobe has released the next version Flash Player for public, as a Public Beta. This pre-release version is being made available for developers and consumers to test their content to ensure existing flash content plays correctly and hopefully there will not be any compatibility issue.

This release is for Windows® 98 and later and Mac® OS X 10.1 and later.

You may download the Beta Flashplayer from Adobe website here. Note that, since this is still in a beta stage, there might be possible existing bugs yet to be fixed.

Adobe Flash Player Team would appreciate that, if you do find any compatibility issue or bug, to inform them of any problem.

AC3Filter 0.70b – Audio / Video Filter Plug-in

Posted in Fun Stuff, Windows

AC3Filter

This plugin is very handy for some codec that does not perform well when playback some encoded movie files, such as DivX or Mpeg. AC3Filter is a DirectShow filter for AC3 decoding to play .AVI with AC3 audio tracks and MPEG2 (DVD). Though this may be an old release, but it’s a good as the latest available.

This is a free (open source) distribution, but it is as good as any other audio/video filter plugin that you can get elsewhere. For instance, if your .avi playback allows you to hear the background sound, but not the narration of the casts, then this may fix your problem.
