DiggUpdate 2.0

Posted in Mac OS, Web Apps

DiggUpdate

I am very sure most of you will know what Digg is. Basically, digg is a technology news website that employs non-hierarchical editorial control. Digg users will submit stories for review. However, instead of allowing an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users make the selection.

To keep up with the latest news from digg, there is a new release of DiggUpdate 2.0. The same way that RSS works, DiggUpdate will instantly inform you of new Digg stories that hit the front page.

Posted in Development Software, Linux, Mac OS, Solaris, Web Apps, Windows

Azureus

As BitTorrent is becoming more and more popular among peer-to-peer (P2P) users, there are a wide spread of new bitTorrent softwares developed for BitTorrent use. Some of the BitTorrent clients include uTorrent and BitComet.

Unlike uTorrent and BitComet, Azureus is Java-based BitTorrent client. Azureus is currently version 2.4.0.2 for stable release and 2.4.0.3 for beta. In addition, Azureus also features an embedded tracker which can be easily set up.

As Azureus is Java-based, it is platform-independent. However, Java Run-time Environment (JRE) virtual machine is required to run Azureus.

Posted in Utilities, Web Apps, Windows

Google Calendar

Are you currently fasinated with Google’s recent release of the Google Calendar Beta? Do you also have Ipods that have calendar functionality? How would you like to integrate both together, being able to synchronise your schedules between your Ipods and Google Calendar?

Johnny Matthews
have wrote a simple program, called getCals, which allows ipod users to transfer your Ipod calendar to and from Google Calendar.

Note the following latest notice: At the moment this works on the Ipod with video and also the Nano.

Procedure:
To get the ICAL address from Google:

  1. Go to your calendar view,
  2. click on the down arrow next to your calendar name and go to “Share this Calendar“.
  3. Choose the “Calendar Details” option, then
  4. click the ICAL button next to the “Private Address” section.

So, this is some good news for those with Ipods.

The second revision of Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 codenamed “sarge” has been released. This latest release is an update to Debian GNU.Linux 3.1, which mainly adds security updates to the stable release, along with some corrections to critical issues in the stable version.

Note that, for those who frequently update from security.debian.org will not need to update much of the packages as most updates from the repository are already included in this update.

WinRAR

Following the previous release of WinRAR 3.60 Beta 1, Rar Lab has now released version WinRAR 3.60 Beta 2. As mentioned before, this is a highly recommended compression utility, even I will claim that it is much better than WinZip.
