Posted in Development Software, Linux, Site News

Ubuntu

Hot on the heels, Ubuntu is almost approaching to the release of the final release candidate in October. However, before that happens, Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft Beta is now available for public download. In addition, Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Xubuntu were also released.

This may be a pre-release of Edgy Eft version, and not recommended for anyone who requires a stable system, but the Ubuntu has been known to be develop quite a stable release even in Alpha development stage, and needless to mention when the version is currently now in Beta. Nonetheless, it is still not recommended in production machine.

Nscrypt 1.5 – Encryption Utility

Posted in Fun Stuff, Utilities, Windows

nscrypt

Oh, another encrytion tool. NSCRYPT 1.5 is developed by Nisse. This application is worthwhile mentioning because of its extremely powerful encryption algorithm embedded within the utility, and not because it’s the latest release.

Despite available as a freeware, NSCRYPT is a powerful encryption software which allows really HUGE encryption keys, which means it takes an awful long time even for hackers trying to crack open any nscrypted files. This goes the same for someone using a super computer; the time taken to crack this algorithm would literally be very long, years perhaps.

The reason lies in the fundamental that this encryption utility is built on top of a 1024-bit encryption key. Supporting only Windows system, this utility can be integrated into Explorer and most of the Windows 32-bit programs.

Basically, to break the code, it depends on the encryption key used. As the original download will have a default encryption key, a reasonable fee will give you a choice to having your own unique encryption key, totally different from any other NSCRYPT user. Nonetheless, this is definitely a huge bargain for a small price.

Gallery Plugin
We designed the WordPress gallery plugin to make it easy for a blog visitor to see a visual summary of all the latest posts. The idea is to help your visitors navigate as well as providing more internal linking which can help with search engine rankings.

Upon request the plugin will generate a new post that contains images and links to your most recent posts. The images are properly scaled thumbnails, which look better than just scaling using HTML and are also much smaller and faster to download. The generated post is saved as a draft so that you can edit it before publishing if so desired.

The Vault 1.0 – Free Encryption Program

Posted in Business Software, Utilities, Windows

The Vault

Again, this is another encryption program. The Vault 1.0 is developed by the Jensen and Brusca Consulting Group and is a file encryption program that is known to protect your data from intrusion. This software is capable of organising files by extension and version automatically, and also keep multiple versions of files added to its repository while maintaining the original modification, creation and access time.

The Vault ScreenShot

Offering enhanced security layers for users; PIN protection, Configuration file and hardware profile encryption. Users can well protected from any outsiders. For PIN protection on the application, it simply means the application would require PIN to run. The latter encryption category just illustrates that configuration files and hardware profiles can be safely encrypted to prevent access and tampered by intruders. The application also includes the ability to modify the encoding algorithm with a WebPass Pro file, which improves security, since the default encoding algorithm is not going to be used for all applications.

YouRipper 2.0 – Download Movies from YouTube

Posted in Web Apps, Windows

YouRipper

Want to download video from YouTube? You’d probably find that the site won’t allow you to do so. However, things aren’t that bleak. YouRipper would probably do the thing you wanted to.

Offering an option to download video hosted on YouTube, YouRipper is a small and easy to use utility. There is no difficult configuration users might face. Just paste the URL of the YouTube webpage onto the YouRipper and the video, in flash movie (flv format) will be downloaded to your system.

Of course, you’ll need a player that is compatible with .flv format, which I will not discuss here. You’ll probably be able to “Google” it from the Internet.

The latest version of YouRipper 2.0 is available for download now.
