Most Internet users will come across several file-sharing programs, including KaZaa, Shareaza, eDonkey and perhaps Overnet. Despite the use of such programs, users have absolutely taken advantage of such file-sharing tools to perform illegal transfers, such as pirated softwares as well as pornographic stuffs. As such, most of these websites have either closed down or controlled (under the surveillance of the government).

Besides these, there is also an emergence of another file-sharing tool, which uses torrent. I hope this thread isn’t going to invite much illegal operations, but this is for those who finds it useful to speed up file-sharing. For instance, companies like OpenSuSE, uses torrent bit for users to download their installation files, which is remarkably much faster than one using HTTP (port 80) or FTP downloads. Moreover, torrent could help register the quality of the file, whether if they are authentic or not.

There are several softwares that use BitTorrent for download, and one of the latest release is uTorrent 1.4.1 Beta. The current build is 422, and it is only 422kB in file size. This freeware is available for download at uTorrent.

ĀµTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. ĀµTorrent was designed to use as little cpu, space and memory as possible while offering all the functionalites expected from advanced clients.
