Miranda IM

Fed up with using so many applications at once to connect up to several networks? I reckon most of us would have MSN Messenger (now, the latest known as Windows Live Messenger, which an extremely resource hungry application), Yahoo Messenger (the latest news about its collaboration with MSN Messenger so that users from both networks can cross-chat), ICQ (or AOL), Skype, GoogleTalk, Jabber…. and so on. Imagine running all those softwares at the same time, and they are sure to run your system resources dry in no time. Why not get a all-in-one application?

Introducing Miranda IM (Internet Messaging) client, which is a multi protocol instant messenger client for Windows. Miranda IM uses very little memory and works very fast. Available in a small size file, it can even be stored in a single floppy drive (though I know nowadays, who would really use floppy drives; USB thumb drive perhaps). If you do not realise, Miranda IM has over 350 free plugins available for download, and users can customise it to their own preferences.

The latest preview release of Miranda IM 0.5 Preview 5 is now being released. As this is still a preview version, do make sure you take note of the following:

  1. This release has been tested and should not contain any major bugs, however we can make no promises. As always, please backup your profile and plugins before installing.
  2. We need users to test both the zip and the installer to verify that initial setup is working correctly. If you are upgrading from 0.4.0.3 please let us know if the installer does not upgrade your installation correctly.
  3. It is very import that you report any bugs you find as soon as possible. The quicker we get reports of issues with this release, the quicker we can officially release a stable 0.5.

The installation files can be downloaded from the Preview 5 release note site.
