The Dude 2.0 Beta 7 is now released. Given its funny name, the network monitoring tool, known as The Dude, is excellent in providing users a visual interface to manage the network environment. This application is developed by MikroTik

With The Dude, it allows automatic scanning of all devices within specified subnets, draw and layout a map of the networks, monitor services of devices and alerting users in case some services have encountered problems.

  • - Device, Link monitoring, and notifications
  • - Includes SVG icons for devices, and supports custom icons and backgrounds
  • - Easy installation and usage
  • - Allows you to draw your own maps and add custom devices
  • - Supports SNMP, ICMP, DNS and TCP monitoring for devices that support it
  • - Individual Link usage monitoring and graphs
  • - Direct access to remote control tools for device management
  • - Supports remote Dude server and local client
  • - Runs in Linux Wine enviroment, MacOS Darwine, and Windows

Currently not available during time of this post.

Though, it is primarily supported only in Windows, but it can be ported into Linux and Mac OS using Wine and Darwine, respectively. A stable version is available if you are not fond of trying the beta release.
