OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 Officially Released

The long awaiting OpenOffice.org version 2.0.4 has finally being officially released. OpenOffice.org is very similar to Microsoft Office, except that it is open source and is available in Macintosh, Linux and Windows platform.

Instead of having to pay over hundreds of dollars for an expensive Microsoft Office product, you may choose to get OpenOffice.org for free. Yes, absolutely at no cost at all, and it is downloadable from the website. This application suite contains almost all the necessary softwares that you would get from Microsoft Office, so it is an alternative if you find paying for the product is too expensive for you.

So, why OpenOffice.org? As the name suggests, it is open source, so there is no commercial license or software compliance issues to worry about. It is available in several languages too, not just English. Since it is available in Linux, Mac OS X and Windows version, users do not have to worry about compatibility when writing a document and transferring it to someone who is running on a different operating system.

One of the main thing about OpenOffice.org is that it is the first office suite to comply with the OASIS OpenDocument format, and the source code is also available freely under the full OSI certified license.
