SUSE Linux 10.1 “Remastered”

Posted in Linux, Site News

Early this year in May, SUSE announced their latest public release of SUSE Linux 10.1 GM (GoldMaster). However, as most of us might expect life of SUSE Linux 10.1 stops there, but no. Andreas Jaeger revealed last Friday that they have “remastered” the version 10.1.

The new release of “remastered” SUSE Linux 10.1 GM includes the previous GM 10.1 version and all online updates that openSUSE has released for 10.1 so far. Those updates include libzypp, which make installation and working experience much smoother for all users.

Hence, new CD .iso images and supplied delta .iso have been re-created for the GoldMaster version. While non-OSS DVD images may decide to release sometime this week, others are available on the FTP servers and mirrors for download.

Note that, the revised files have a “Remastered” in their name and a symbolic link from the old name to them so that references will continue to work despite the upgrade.

You might be please to note that, if you are already running SUSE Linux 10.1, you would already have all those updates. These “remastered” versions are meant for full installation.
