Deluge 0.3.0 – Bittorrent Client for Linux
Posted in Fun Stuff, Linux, Site News, Web Apps
Check out this latest Bittorrent client for Linux, known as Deluge. The latest version of Deuge 0.3.0 is created using Python and GTK+, and is intended to bring a native, full-featured client to Linux GTK desktop environment, such as Gnome and XFCE.
Originally, Deluge was set up by two members from the ubuntuforums.org, zachtib and kripkenstein, and now is currently being maintained and hosted at Google code. Previously, it was known as gTorrent, since it was being used as a bittorrent client for Gnome during the development stage.
Deluge uses Rasterbar’s version of libtorrent, and a wrapper class, python-libtorrent, written by Kripkenstein in order to use the library under Python. Currently, python-libtorrent is only officially supported on i386 and amd64 versions of Linux, and a Debian package is provided that is compatible with the most recent Ubuntu release
These packages have been tested with Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy) and 6.06 (Dapper). Users can obtain install from the APT repository with the link below:
