VLC (VideoLAN) Media Player is a cross-platform media player, and available free to download. VLC currently supports a large number of multimedia format, for almost every operating systems, including Linux, Mac and Windows. Furthermore, it does not take much system resource, requiring only minimal CPU power to play your favourite track. VLC is also available as a Portable VLC Media Player.

The latest release of VLC Media Player 0.8.6 include several improvements, bug fixes and enhancements. Most prominent change is probably the Windows Media Video 9 and Flash Video support. Other changes include improved H.264 decoding, better Windows Unicode support, fullscreen controller and Apple Remote support for Mac OS X. MacIntel is now supported by VLC.
