There can never be a lack of audio players around for you to try out. Here is another one – qxPlayer 0.5.4, a Qt4-based music player.

This application uses Qt4, xine-lib and TagLib to process your audio file. It is a simple and easy-to-use player, but if you do not fancy trying out new “gadgets”, I suggest that you try something else instead, such as system default player, e.g. xine or totem.

Written by Quentin Sculo, gmusicbrowser is an open-source jukebox for large collections of mp3/ogg/flac/mpc files, written in perl.

There are several enhancement and features of this open-source application. Although it may be relatively new to several Linux users, the prospect of it becoming one of the most popular jukebox player is there. Some hacks are made to the code by the author, and it is advised that users take note of the requirements before attempting to compile the source, or download the binaries.

Available free for Windows XP and Windows Vista users only, SpeeDefrag 5.0 is an exlusive freeware program that optimises the use of your Windows defrag.exe program.

The application first restarts the computer, which refreshes the RAM (random access memory) and loads just the defrag.exe program to optimise the Windows operating system. Since no other applications are loaded in the memory, there is minimal load on the system allowing improved defragmentation speed.

Once the defragmentation procedure is completed, the software will shutdown or restart the computer automatically. This latest version also supports defrag scheduling.
