AVI Resize Tool

Downsizing or resizing a video file, e.g. AVI file, is almost as easy as resizing an image file. The Avi Resize Tool, as discussed by Softpedia, is a software application that simply resize an AVI file.

The batch process is relatively easy;

  1. simply upload the file you want to resize
  2. and then choose the output dimension.

Information, such as frame rate and resolution, is available for users so that users know what to change. Output formats, e.g. VCD, SVCD and DVD, are available.

tagg

Searching files on your desktop is more enhanced with Tagg 1.5.3, a small desktop search tool, which locates your files based on keyword meta data. Based on their creative innovation concept, files are “tagged” with associating keywords, such that these associations are stored within Tagg’s database, which are then resided on the hard disk or removable media devices.

When a file is required, users simply need to launch Tagg and enter any keywords attached to the file. Tagg will search its database and display the Tagged item, which has been previously created. To edit the item, just double-click on the item.

PlayWav 1.0 – Play WAV Using CLI

Posted in Audio, Fun Stuff, Utilities, Windows

Audio

Command line (CLI) applications often fascinates me. For what you can do with Graphical User Interface (GUI) environment or X-screen environment, you can also use CLI to achieve the same task. It may be easier to do so with Linux, but there are also applications made for Windows; and PlayWav 1.0 is one of them.

PlayWav is a CLI application that can be easily integrated into any kind of application. It can be run from batch files, various types of scripts, and even NT services such as a web server.

For example, the program can allow a web server application to play a sound on the web server.

…For instance, imagine that you are running a web cam on your home computer so that you can watch and listen to your baby, kids, or pets. By setting up a web server (such as Microsoft Personal Web Server or Internet Information Server) on your home computer, you can create a simple web page with hyperlinks that cause pre-defined .WAV audio files to be played on your home computer’s speakers. For instance, when you hear your dog start barking, just click the No button on your web site and your dog will hear the correction and (hopefully) stop barking….

The software is supported by u-Consulting, and is available free for download.

To allow easy access, an icon is displayed on the system tray. This is a rather easy-to-use application that fits its purpose. Special thanks to Softpedia for introducing this nice little program.

Skype 2.6.0.140 for Mac Released

Posted in Audio, Fun Stuff, Linux, Mac OS, Site News, Software Companies, Utilities, Video, Web Apps, Windows

Skype for Mac OS X

Just released not long ago, Skype 2.6.0.140 for Mac OS X is now available for Macintosh users. I don’t think there is a need for an introduction of what Skype is about. Basically, it uses a peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to allow connections between users who would like to share files, chat and even see over video cameras.

Secured with end-to-end encryption, the calls also have excellent sound quality. It works well behind firewalls and NAT routers, therefore there is no hassle needed to configure any network devices.
