Gom Player

GOM player is another media player for Windows that supports most popular codec, i.e. avi, dat, mpeg, divx and more. It has its own embedded codec system such that users need not search for appropriate codec to download each time a new video format isn’t playable (or supported).

A special feature is that, for a codec requiring a license that cannot be distributed, GOM will automatically access an open-source web site which users can use appropriate codec to watch video.

If GOM player isn’t pleasing you yet, then you should also realise one of the features is that it allows viewing of video files even when these files are incomplete. Note that, GOM has a registered patent for playing broken AVI files and files that are still in the process of being downloaded.

There are several advance features available in GOM PLayer. For instance, users can customize the player by creating a personalised skin, setting toggle keys, VMR modes, detailed resolution among others. It also provides features such as an overlay mixer, real-time index rebuilding for AVI files, unicode support, and key frame based RW/FF.
