Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn Herd 3 Now Available

The most popular Linux operating systems, Ubuntu, has released the alpha development version of 7.04 – codenamed Feisty Fawn. It is only about less than 2 more months to go before Ubuntu is to release the official version of 7.04 in April 19th, 2007.

In this alpha version, several exciting features have been introduced.

  1. Gnome Control Center now uses 2.17.90, with a new polished look.
  2. Xfce 4.4 was designed for Thunar to replace the previous manager, Xffm.
  3. Installation is graphical, featuring a brand new advanced partitioning tool.
  4. Desktop Search now includes Tracker.
  5. Easy Codec Installation, a newly implemented feature to help installing necessary codec automatically when required.
  6. Kernel has new updates, particularly the inclusion of VMWare (See thumbnail image).

Since it is still currently under development, users are advised not to install onto production machines. ISO and torrents are available from the link below.
