editra 0.0.90 – Multi-platform Text Editor

Posted in Beta, Fun Stuff, Linux, Mac OS, Site News, Utilities, Windows

Windows users will be familiar with Notepad and Wordpad, Linux users are more inclined to use gedit (for Gnome), kate (for KDE) or even vim (console text editor). Though these are sufficient to get the most out of a simple text editor, have you tried something else; that is, a multi-platform text editor – editra 0.0.90.

This application is a simple multi-platform text editor with an implementation that focuses on creating an easy to use interface and features that aid in code development. Currently it supports syntax highlighting and basic auto-completion for over 20 languages.

Also, it is freely available under the terms of the GPL. In spite of this, the project is still in the pre-alpha development phase. Nonetheless, builds are available for downloads as Windows and Mac OS X binaries. Unix users (including Linux) may have to run the source scripts as no installers have been created yet.
