FGA 1.0.2 – Fast Genetic Algorithm

Posted in Development Software, Linux, Site News, Utilities

Especially for Computer scientists, mathematicians or engineers working in the field of optimisation algorithms, as we know that genetic algorithm is one of the fastest and advanced optimisation algorithm to solve global minimum (or maximum) solution.

Developed by Alessandro Presta, the Fast Genetic Algorithm (FGA) is a simple yet powerful implementation of a general genetic algorithm that provides many types of crossover and selection procedures.

The algorithm is suitable for solving mathematical problems such as combinatorial optimisation ones, as well as to build artificial life simulations. Written in C++, the library is released under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License, and it is easy to incorporate in other applications. Furthermore, a parallel version of the algorithm (using POSIX threads) is included in order to take advantage of multi-processor environments.
