WordPress 2.7.1 RC 1 Released

Posted in Beta, Business Software, Fun Stuff, Linux, Mac OS, Site News, Software Companies, Solaris, Web Apps, Windows

Ryan Boren’s email has revealed that WordPress 2.7.1 RC 1 is made available to the public. This was announced earlier than expected, as the release is still not announced formally at the main page of WordPress. Based on the information, the following issues have been fixed:

  • * URL column in Edit Links removes www. from domains that end in www
  • * Theme preview fails when theme in subdirectory
  • * “Draft Saved” current_time not reflecting timezone setting in the edit area
  • * Revisions do not respect time zone offset
  • * Canonical redirect of feed URLs with suffixes is wrong
  • * index.php file in the plugins folder makes the Dashboard fail

In spite of this, WordPress users are still unable to utilise the Upgrade functionality on the WordPress software to automatically upgrade to this release candidate version. However, it isn’t too bad either, to just wait a couple more days for the final (stable) version to be available.

However, if you still bend on getting your hands onto the latest release, you can download from the link below. Just note that, it is important to avoid deploying on production machines.

Posted in Beta, Business Software, OS, Site News, Software Companies, Windows

How often does Microsoft offers its Windows beta release for downloads and trials? Well, only for the past recent copies of XP and Vista, does it do that. Never would you have imagined that Windows 7 Beta is also available for download NOW! According to CNET, this software is supposed to be available on Friday but was delayed for another day due to web site issue.

In order to run this Windows 7 Beta release, Microsoft has provided some recommended specifications, although that could change for the final release. The installation file is provided in a .ISO format, which can be downloaded and burnt onto a DVD disc.

WordPress 2.7 Release Candidate 2

Posted in Beta, Linux, Mac OS, Site News, Solaris, Web Apps, Windows

WordPressSince the last release of WordPress 2.7 RC 1, WordPress has revealed the Release Candidate 2 version of WordPress.

Upgrading to this version is pretty easy, if you are already using previous version of WordPress 2.7. Simply go to the Upgrade function and click on “Upgrade Automatically”, that will set your system going.

New users are highly encouraged to try out this version, as of my personal opinion. WordPress 2.7 is definitely a huge improvement over any previous versions of WordPress.

Google Chrome 0.4.154.33

Posted in Beta, Fun Stuff, Linux, Software Companies, Web Apps, Windows

The next version of Google Chrome 0.4.154.33 has just been released. With my last few written posts related to web browsers, it seems that there is a strong competition going on in the browser marketing. With the exception of Microsoft Internet Explorer, which seems to be losing grip on its stronghold, other developers, such as Mozilla, Google and Opera, have been hitting it really hard.

Upgrading Google Chrome is just a breeze; however, there is still some issues with this web browser that I am still not comfortable with. For example, there is a problem opening Hotmail. Apart from that, other sites seem to load pretty well.
