Creammonkey 0.8 - Add Users Scripting to Safari

Posted in Mac OS, Plugins, Site News, Utilities

For Macintosh users, if you are using Safari, you may like to have this Creamonkey 0.8 plugin to go with it. Creammonkey add Greasemonkey like user scripting to Apple Safari, which is implemented as an InputManager bundle.

However, do note that Creammonkey is not necessarily 100% compatible with Greasemonkey since the JavaScript implementation in Safari is not compatible with Firefox. Therefore, some Greasemonkey specific functions are not available in Creammonkey.

Latest Change Log

  • * Execute script when DOM is ready, don’t wait loading of all images and other resources.
  • * Don’t cache local scripts.
  • * Support Accept-Encoding.

DownTube 2.0 - Brings YouTube to your doorstep

Posted in Fun Stuff, Linux, Plugins, Web Apps, Windows

Downtube

Videos hosted on YouTube can’t be downloaded directly onto your PC, unless you use some special software to extract the video content. Downtube 2.0 is one such application that allows users to download video from YouTube. Available in three basic languages, i.e. English, Spanish and Portuguese, Downtube provides an alternative to watch the video offline.

As video content from YouTube are basically flash movies, therefore video can only be viewable through a flash player. However, DownTube offers other means to let you watch them.

Key Features

  • · Download the videos and watch them later using the “Video Manager”. A simple two clicks automates all the necessary procedures. No external plugins or programs are needed.
  • · Provide video conversional directly into MPEG format with no boring and complex set-up actions. Other external programs to convert into VideoCD are not necessary.
  • · Bring YouTube directly into your cellular phone. A 3GP converter allows the conversion of videos to a format thoroughly compatible with cell phones.
  • · Support download resume.
  • · If you do not want to open your internet browser to watch a video again, users can watch it from inside your Downtube.

Both Linux and Windows platforms are available.

Local Live - The Ultimate Google Earth Terminator

Posted in Graphics, Plugins, Software Companies, Web Apps, Windows

Microsoft Virtual Earth

At first when Google announced Google Earth, we thought there is no way any other major enterprise is able to do that. However, within a short time, Microsoft revealed their ultimate tool to challenge that - Microsoft Virtual Earth. Integrated with Local Live, Microsoft Virtual Earth is not just a replicate of Google Earth; beside creating a mapping from an aerial view, it also has enhanced its capability and visual with 3D sights, capable of looking in a three-dimensional way.

Local Live also integrates mapping, together with globe-exploring services, and additional capability to zoom around the three-dimensional planet, looking from different angles. Unlike Google’s 3D views with grey boxes representing building structures, Microsoft Virtual Earth’s 3D visual look is highly photo-realistic.

As the Virtual Earth has their own apps, the service will have an API, and basically, if you want to hear the disappointment side, well, it works only in Internet Explorer.

So, if you don’t believe a word I say about Microsoft Virtual Earth, and still insisting that Google Earth is better, you might as well check it out yourself.
